PEACOCK 02

Explanation

PEACOCK 02 carries the later number and the earlier date. This is the first peacock of the pair, and it wears its age as an excavation — a surface arrived at rather than applied.

It is, in the artist’s own description, an archaeological history of her process. Dig past the final silver and there is a multitude underneath: colours tried and abandoned, textures laid in and painted over, the buried record of a picture being worked out.
